Powerhouse

  • #EnergyPositive

HORTUS will have amortized all grey energy used to construct the building within one generation. After that, the building becomes an energy supplier, a so-called powerhouse.

On the one hand, the total consumed energy is kept low in HORTUS thanks to the use environment-optimising materials such as wood, rammed earth and waste paper. On the other hand, the energy harvest is maximized via photovoltaics. HORTUS becomes a source of energy - both of creative and factual solar energy with an attitude that connects tech and nature, stimulates science and utopia, and exemplifies sustainability in the ecological, social and economic sense of the term.
